Duty/Tax: Shipments entering any destination may be subject to excise duty and local taxes applied by customs. Electronic and brand-new items have a higher probability to attract duties and taxes.
Customs Clearance/Inspection: The charges relate to customs clearance and regular or details inspection of shipments and are usually applied by customs authorities, carriers or freight agents
Documentation Fee: Is charged by carriers and freight agents on Bill of Lading (B/L) release and/or other documentation
Customs Inspection Fee: Is charged if customs opt for a detailed inspection of the goods
X-Ray/Examination Fee: Is charged if the container/cargo is subject to x-ray examination. This fee can be charged on shipments individually or on an entire container. If charged on a container the fee is split among all consignees with shipments inside the container depending on their shipment volume.
Commercial/Broker Clearance: Depending on the country, commercial/broker clearance may be required and is not limited to the following circumstance: - The contents of the shipment are of commercial nature i.e. items are imported for the purpose of selling and not used as personal effects The contents are brand new The sender of the shipment is not present for the clearance of the shipment at destination The sender is importing the contents outside the time frame defined by customs for personal effects. For instance; the sender is importing contents recently purchased during a trip or the contents are imported within a twelve-month period from their last departure from destination etc. The above list is not exhaustive; please check with destination customs for further information.
Representation Fee: Depending on the country, the fee may be applied where sender is unable to attend customs clearance or where a representation by a broker or lawyer is required by local law or certain contents require arrangement of import/export licences.
ISF: Charged only in US, Import Security Filing (ISF) is composed of data elements which are required to be sent to US customs on all imports into US.
Storage: Refers to charges applied by agents, freight forwarders for storing the goods
Quarantine/Agriculture Fee: May be charged in case any of the contents in the shipment are prohibited, dirty, or the quantities are beyond set limit. Some countries may include agriculture fee charges as default.
Any Other Local Charge: There can be other local charges applicable on a shipment based on local government regulations, shipment contents and sender/receiver’s own circumstances. We strongly recommend all clients to do their own research into possible charges to avoid any surprises afterwards
